EarlyBird is responsible for the daily distribution of high-quality newspapers such as Helsingin Sanomat and Kauppalehti as the company is a part of Finland’s largest media group Sanoma.There was a growing demand for motivated carriers, which was tackled by ongoing digital marketing and later by website renewal.

Challenge

EarlyBird had difficulties finding carriers with relatively few working hours for night time tasks. Marketing needed a clear concept and effective targeting, so that potential applicants could be interested in becoming a carrier.

Additionally, EarlyBird’s website had an outdated design and poor usability. The user paths were unclear, and it was challenging for the carriers to find the information they needed on the website.

Solution

Marketing

With targeted digital marketing, we guided potential distributors to move forward on the recruitment path. We’ve been executing ongoing digital marketing campaigns utilizing the Google Ads and Facebook/Instagram combination.

We turned the perception of carriers’ work during limited working hours around by emphasizing the advantages, such as the freedom to independently choose the amount and timing of work, which allows carriers to have their entire day to pursue personal activities.

Heroes of the night

The advertising concept “Heroes of the night” was used multi-channel on television, radio, newspaper advertising and digital marketing. Inclusivity was brought to the core of the employer branding, because Earlybird has no education requirements, and the job is suitable for all ages as long as the motivation is in place.

Website renewal

Through UX and UI design, Earlybird’s brand has been elevated and showcased more prominently and attractively on the website. By refining the core messages, the once perplexing content structure became notably more straightforward and comprehensible. Simplified conversion paths make recruiting smoother and more user-friendly than before.

Results

From the beginning of 2021, Earlybird has received almost 5,000 applications for carrier positions thanks to our digital marketing. All the necessary carrier positions have been filled, so our marketing collaboration has effectively achieved its goals.
